Let’s talk about the not-so-pretty side of being a delivery driver.
Because guess what? Whatever happens… you’re the one to blame.
Doesn’t matter if it’s your fault or not — if something goes wrong, you’re the first to take the hit. Here’s how it usually goes:
- Customer had a bad day?
You show up 2 minutes late, suddenly you’re the reason their life is falling apart.
Rating drops. - Restaurant owner in a bad mood?
They yell at you for standing too close, or too far, or for just existing.
Still your fault. - Customer is straight-up rude?
Doesn’t matter — you’re expected to smile through it.
You don’t? Rating drops. - Your car breaks down?
Doesn’t matter if it’s an act of God — you canceled the delivery, now you’re unreliable.
Rating drops. - Stuck in traffic because of an accident?
Should’ve flown over it, right?
Rating drops. - Restaurant took forever to prep the food?
Yeah, the customer still blames you.
Rating drops. - Weather is trash, roads are icy, you’re risking your life to get the job done?
But hey… the fries are cold.
Rating drops.
Here’s the Worst Part
Uber knows it’s not your fault.
They can see the timestamps, the GPS route, the delays at the restaurant.
But one thumbs down or low tip from the customer?
That’s on you. No questions asked.
You’re invisible until something goes wrong. Then suddenly, you’re the villain.
